PERFORMANCE
BMW X7

A powerful yet comfortable SUV—or SAV® (Sports Activity Vehicle®) when referring to the BMW X7—is exactly what you’ll find with either the X7 or the GLS. Both models pack a lot of punch under the hood yet deliver a smooth ride.

Engine Capabilities

The 2023 GLS offers three different engines, with its standard 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine producing 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The optional 4.0L V8 biturbo increases that to 483 horsepower with 516 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, an AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine, generates 603 horsepower.

With the 2023 X7, however, your choice of three engines are all packed with even more oomph than the GLS.

2023 BMW X7 Engines
  • Standard 3.0L BMW Turbo inline 6-cylinder
  • Optional 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8
  • Optional 4.4L BMW ALPINA Bi-Turbo V8
  • 375 horsepower; 398 lb-ft of torque
  • 523 horsepower; 553 lb-ft of torque
  • 631 horsepower; 590 lb-ft of torque

How do those powertrains perform on the road? Well, the fastest acceleration with the AMG in the GLS jumps from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.1 seconds. In the BMW ALPINA trim, you’ll get from 0 to 60 MPH in a mere 3.9 seconds.

Adaptive Driving

There are many advanced systems at work to add more confidence and peace of mind in your travels. Part of that is the ability of both vehicles to adapt based on road conditions.

With the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS Class, you can use DYNAMIC SELECT to choose modes that tune the throttle response, shift points, and suspension when road conditions change.

With the 2023 BMW X7, adjustments happen at an even more subtle and instantaneous rate for exceptional ride quality at all times. Its available Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview uses a forward-facing camera to automatically adjust the suspension based on the type of turns or road surfaces that lie ahead.

INTERIOR
BMW X7

It’s all the small details that make the BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS truly luxurious vehicles. While they come with sophisticated systems and premium materials, it’s the subtle yet highly effective aspects of their design that make them stand out.

Load Up for Fun

Fit in up to seven people in either cabin and get ready to have some fun adventures. Sit pretty in a cabin decked out with luxury features, including:

  • 4-zone automatic climate control
  • Heated front seats
  • Power front seats and memory functions

With people come belongings that require their own places to land, and in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS, that space can increase up to 84.7 cubic feet of cargo volume. However, when you drive the BMW X7, you can enjoy up to 90.4 cubic feet of cargo volume, providing extra room for the family luggage, sports equipment, and shopping spree purchases.

Amenities and Then Some

With the 2023 BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS being luxury models, you can expect them to have upscale, elegant cabins filled with premium materials. The X7 and the GLS certainly deliver.

For example, the BMW model comes standard with Sensafin upholstery and offers available Vernasca leather seating. Combine these luxuries with the Fineline Stripe Brown High Gloss Wood trim, and you’ll have a truly sophisticated cabin.

You’ll also find another prized amenity: the moonroof. The X7 features a standard panoramic moonroof with an available Panoramic Sky Lounge LED roof that projects beautiful patterns from six different colors onto the glass.

The panoramic sunroof in the GLS is plain and goes without any options like the X7.

TECHNOLOGY
BMW X7

A benefit to driving a luxury ride is all the advanced technology that can power your infotainment. After all, when you’re behind the wheel, you’ll want a way to remain connected and entertained through all your commutes.

Stay Connected at All Times

Both SUVs provide Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ as well as Wireless Device Charging and voice control.

They also offer Wi-Fi connectivity so you can stay in touch and surf the internet for necessary information. The difference is that the X7 gives you a standard Wi-Fi Hotspot, whereas in-car Wi-Fi is only optional in the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

That’s Infotainment!

One of the pleasures of riding in your car is listening to the music, podcasts, and audio books you like. It’s an easy way to have the miles ahead roll by quickly and more enjoyable.

The X7 offers two available premium audio systems:

  • Harman Kardon® Surround Sound System with 16 speakers and 464-watt amplifier
  • Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with 20 speakers and 1,500 watts

In the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the available Burmester Surround Sound System includes just 13 speakers, so the experience may be less immersive.
